About the Artist:

lee3Hello! My name is Lee, and my life's journey has brought me to an interesting place. It all started as a way to relieve the stress of running a business.  In 2000 I began to paint, later joining the Slidell Art League to add a different dimension to my life. I found great satisfaction in painting, and the camaraderie within the local art community helped me maintain my art focus. Expert art instructors and talented friends encouraged me to continue.

With several years painting experience in acrylics, watercolor and oils under my belt, I began to experiment with tile as a painting surface instead of the usual paper and canvas, using a crab as my subject.  Instead of painting the crab realistically, I added texture, unusual colors, and a little whimsy, making each a unique piece. My interest and business has expanded from that little crab to include other subjects that I believe have character and uniqueness, such as you would find in nature or even in New Orleans’ French Quarter.

Some very smart person once said that “it’s not how you begin, it’s how you end up”. While I often wonder how all my life experiences brought me to this “art tile place”, I know with certainty that the road does not end here, but is merely a beginning, with my hand painted tiles as the vehicle to take this artist to other “yet to discover” places in the creative realm. Here’s hoping that my web site, Louisiana Expressions, puts a smile on your face, brings joy to your heart, and of course, gives you that uncontrollable urge to possess one of my original hand painted tiles.

About my Tiles:

I refer to my hand painted tiles as "happy art", with the subject matter generally reflective of my Louisiana roots.

The tiles are durable, portable pieces of art, painted on either a ceramic or porcelain tile surface, ranging in size from 4"x4" to 12"x12", and in weight from approximately 1/2 pound to 3.5 pounds.

My tiles are all original designs. Each piece is hand textured, hand painted, heat set and sealed with a protectant. Each is unique in regard to composition, texture and painting. Color shading will vary.

Tiles can be used for home decor either for hanging or set in a stand, and each piece comes ready to hang. They make wonderful gifts for family & friends.
